Mary Ellen Stitt is an MA candidate in Latin American Studies at Tulane University in New Orleans, where she also works as a community organizer.  Originally from the rural US South, she graduated from Carleton College, has studied or worked in Chile, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Spain, and Brazil, and spends as much time as she can translating the books that she loves.
